Mr David Galvin
Graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 1996 and was awarded a MD degree at the Mater Hospital and University College Dublin in 2006. Was awarded the FRCS(Urol) from the RCSI in 2008. Completed a Fellowship in Urological Oncology Surgery in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York in 2011. Subsequently appointed a Consultant in Urological Oncology in Essex Cancer center and later in the Mater and St. Vincent’s University hospitals as part of the National Cancer Control Program (NCCP). Other appointments include:
- Associate Professor in College of Medicine, UCD.
- Principal Investigator of the Irish Prostate Cancer Outcomes Research (IPCOR) study, funded by Movember and the Irish Cancer Society for €1.75 million in 2016, and again in 2024 to the value of €3 million.
- Chair, National Cancer Urology Leads group from 2012 to 2018, and co-chaired the Prostate biopsy infection committee in the NCCP.
- Currently Chair the National Prostate cancer guidelines committee at the NCCP.
- Awarded HRB SDAP grant in 2023 valued at €250,000.
- Director of the EU PRAISE-U Prostate cancer screening pilot in Ireland.
