Prof Greg Shaw
Greg Shaw is Professor of Urology at University College London. He is a high volume robotic prostatectomist.
He graduated from St Bartholomew’s Medical College in 1999 where he also completed his basic surgical training and went on to complete an MD research degree developing his interest in prostate cancer. He completed his urological training in North London before moving to take up a lectureship in David Neals lab at Cambridge University which he held for 4 years. There his interest in clinical research developed further. He completed the Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship in robotic surgery at Lister Hospital before moving to UCLH to take up his consultant post in 2015.
Greg has performed over 1400 robot assisted prostatectomies. He performed the most radical prostatectomies at UCLH, the highest volume NHS centre, each year from 2016-2025. He led the robotic urology team and was Associate lead for Urological Cancer at UCLH until the start of 2026. He leads several multidisciplinary research projects including the NeuroSAFE PROOF randomised controlled trial for which his team were awarded the Hans Marberger Prize for best paper in minimally invasive surgery in 2026. His research focus is to improve the side effect profile of robotic radical prostatectomy, which he believes is the best way to cure prostate cancer, when cure is possible.
